Latest Guidelines Regarding Group Rides

The Government published new guidance that became law on Monday 14 September. Unfortunately, this means that we can only meet and ride as a maximum group of 6. We would be committing an offence if we arranged to meet and then split into groups of 6.

To maintain our club rides, it is now necessary to pre - book a slot, so that we can organise into groups of 6 before the ride. All rides are published on the club website and will be confirmed on the club Facebook page the week before the ride. We will continue to offer an Advanced A (Fast) Group and an Intermediate B Group Ride. Anyone intending to ride must e-mail the club or send a message to the club Facebook page by 4pm on Thursday before the planned ride takes place.

We will publish the groups and start times Thursday evening on the members page of the club website and on Facebook. The plan is to offer staggered start times with an A Group and B group leaving at 9:00 and a subsequent 2 groups leaving at 9:15. A group will meet at the crossroads and B group the Barnsley Oak car park.

For this to work we need members to arrive no more than 5 minutes prior to the designated start time, at the allocated meeting point for your group and the groups to leave promptly at the allotted time.

Please help us by continuing to observe the social distancing guidelines and keeping to your designated group of 6 riders during the ride and at the cafe stop. The chances are that this legislative change may result in increased scrutiny of any group gathering or activity. This guidance may change as we try to make the process as smooth as possible and take onboard any further clarification of the regulations.

If anyone has real difficulty in e-mailing or does not use Facebook, please make a member of the committee aware so we can look at alternatives. Our aim here is to keep the rides going the best we can and within the latest legislation.

To comply with track and trace requirements, we need to keep a record of all those that attend a club ride. The records will be retained for 30 days. Contact information will be shared with the relevant authorities if we are asked to provide this, following a track and trace request. We need to capture the contact details of any guests riding with the club. It's also worth noting that our insurance only allows a guest to ride a maximum of three times without becoming a member.

Do not join the club ride if you do not want your details captured and made available. These measures have been brought in for the welfare of all those that ride with the club. We will assume consent to capture and share information if you attend a club ride.

As always contact me or a member of the committee if you have any issues or concerns.
